Any website, MU or connection through this server is currently slow or down. There are some people who have indicated that they are able to connect, however others are unable to receive any response from the server at this time. We are working on resolving this with all expedience.

ISU Network Outages

Notice: All ISU Servers are currently offline due to a routing issue with our upstream provider at the data center. The data center reports that they have a network engineer working on the issue, but has not delivered an ETA at this time. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Brief Power Outage

At approximately 1 AM PST this morning, all of our servers rebooted
themselves. This was unexpected as the AC unit in the location went
offline. The failure of the AC caused servers to overheat and trip
the circuit power. The building is working with the HVAC technicians
and building engineers to prevent this from occuring in the future.
The building battery backup did not kick in as it was a circuit level
failure. We apologize for this inconvenience.

Azuth / CS002 Bounce

To all of our loyal customers,

Our primarily game hosting server (azuth / cs002) was accidentally bounced last night by our remote hands. We are just discovering this information now as the majority of our customers came back up immediately. This bounce lasted approximately one minute as it was a force-shutdown and the server automatically came back up.

This has caused some of our customers to need to manually restart their games. It should not have caused any other problems under normal circumstances. Please let us know if there are any additional problems you are having by contacting us directly -- support at isunlimited.net.

Internal Admin/Web Server

This weekend, our primary internal administration and web server began to have hardware failure. We were able to bring the machine back up successfully and were working on a replacement to be scheduled for the night of Thursday, 2/5. As of moments ago, the machine is no longer responsive. We will be repairing the outage as soon as possible. This machine hosts our website, client accounts, off site services, and a small number of high traffic games. Our email, most client websites and most client games are not affected by this outage.

Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience. We hope to have this issue resolved tonight.

New Howto Wiki

We are proud to announce the beginnings of our new Howto Wiki. This Wiki will be used primarily by our system administration staff to post short articles and information on how to navigate, execute, and effectively use your account on ISU.

At this time, we have written ONE Howto. With the announcement of our maintenance window, we had multiple requests asking how to automatically start processes or games once the server is restarted.

CS001.isunlimited.net (Mystra) Shutdown Scheduled

Mystra is scheduled for shutdown on Monday morning. At that time, the server will become unavailable and inaccessible to our customers. Nearly all requested moves have been made and the few remaining accounts will be shifted this weekend.

New Web and MU Server

We are proud to announce the creation of a new web and MU gaming server. This server will be live on Monday, July 7th and all new accounts will be created on that machine. Our existing MU accounts will also be moving to this machine. If you are an existing customer, your registered email account has received multiple emails on this matter. Any account requests received starting today will not be processed until Monday.

March 2008 Survey completed

Our March 2008 survey has just been completed. We greatly appreciate the 17 hosted customers that responded and the 21 players from various games that responded.

The main concern that players registered was that some people have been having noticeable lag when initially connecting to the various games. This echoes a concern with the hosted customers who have had some connection problems when logging into the server shell. Most customers and players were satisfied with the level of lag once connected.

The only unexpected rating was server uptime/availability. Players and hosted clients have a fairly disparate opinion -- perhaps because the players are unaware when it is the server vs the game that is down.

We are happy to see that, for the most part, our customers and their players are satisfied with their services. At the same time, we are always looking to improve.

As of this week, a new server is being configured for our MU hosting. This server will be placed in a new location and the settings will be specifically designed to produce a high quality MU hosting platform. More information will be posted as we move forward -- we look to having this machine up and running by the end of April.

For taking part in the survey, we offered one random game one year web hosting on our server and a paid domain name. This is approximately a $30 value! The following games are the lucky two winners (one for the player survey, one for the client survey):

MySQL and MU* connections (mystra server)

If you are hosted on our mystra server and use MySQL on your MU, we have made an attempt to contact you by email. This is a secondary notice:

Please change all configuration files to reflect "localhost" and not "127.0.0.1", if you are currently having problems with your MU not connecting to MySQL.

We have had multiple reports of this issue and will look to identify the root cause, however this is an immediate solution that will solve any concerns.

What's coming in 2008?

For Internet Services Unlimited, 2007 was a year of trials and truimphs. We have been able to meet and exceed our goals, gain numerous customers, and improve our customer offerings. Our focus continues to be on improved service and quality. ISU has never competed solely on price, but on customization and on the ability to meet and exceed customer requirements. This has gained us a number of loyal customers and we thank them all for their continued support.

In 2008, we will ramp up our services again. Some of the things to look forward to include:

- Managing support tickets by email. Customers will not need to log into their client site to open or reply to a support ticket.

- Relocation to a faster, even more stable, and higher quality rack location. We have been tested this for the past six months with our internal servers and will be, in time, moving all of our customers to that location. This will be co-ordinated to prevent more down time than critically necessary. All new colocation or dedicated server customers will automatically be placed in that location.

- Increased focus on dedicated and colocated servers. Contact us for more information if you're looking for a place and/or a server.

- A reseller program. Contact us if you are looking to resell web, MU, or server accounts.

We are looking at or planning on implementing some other changes and services as well, but we'll let those remain a secret for the time being!

DNS Problems

We apologize for the inconvenience. About 15 minutes ago, it was discovered that there were a large number of duplicated and problematic records in the isunlimited.net domain DNS records. This has now been resolved, however customers or players MAY discover that they are unable to connect to the standard xxx.isunlimited.net connection that they are used to.

If this is the case, they may use the [server].isunlimited.net connect in the interim.
